Calgary Board of Education School Calendar, Board Meetings & Family Help
The Calgary Board of Education, usually called the CBE, is Calgary’s public school board for Kindergarten through Grade 12. Families use different CBE pages for the instructional calendar, Board of Trustees meetings, school registration, busing, fees, records and individual school information, so one general search can easily lead to the wrong place.
This guide brings those routes together using current 2026–27 CBE information. It is an independent guide, not a CBE page. For meeting changes, revised calendars, fees, registration forms or student-specific decisions, the live CBE source should always be checked before you act.
Calgary Board of Education at a glance
The CBE is Calgary’s public school board and one of Canada’s largest school systems. For 2026–27, it operates 252 schools. Official 2025–26 enrolment was 142,403 students, while the approved 2026–27 budget was built around expected enrolment of 143,475 students.
Calendar warning: CBE revised the 2026–27 instructional calendar. The October non-instruction day that had appeared as Oct. 23 was moved to Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. Use the updated calendar rather than an older saved copy.
Calgary Board of Education school calendar dates families should know
The CBE instructional calendar is system-wide, but individual schools can also publish school-specific calendars, conference dates, bell times and events. For childcare, travel or appointment planning, check both the system calendar and the child’s school page.

How to find a CBE agenda, Board report, minutes or meeting video
The CBE meeting page combines upcoming dates with agendas, reports, prior Board meetings, procedures and monitoring material. Use the document that matches the question you are trying to answer.
Open Board Meetings
Start from the official CBE page rather than an old PDF result.
Open the meeting date
Check the current event entry for the time, meeting information and available livestream details.
Use Agenda & Reports before the meeting
These documents explain scheduled Board business and supporting reports.
Use minutes for the later record
If you need to know what the Board formally approved, use the subsequent meeting record instead of assuming every agenda recommendation passed unchanged.
Watch the livestream or video
CBE provides live streaming for public Board meetings and keeps prior meeting material through its Board pages.
Student privacy: a public Board meeting is not the place to disclose a child’s health information, learning plan, disciplinary matter, personal record or other confidential family information. Use the school or appropriate CBE department for private student concerns.
Current Calgary Board of Education trustees and wards
Calgarians elect seven CBE trustees during municipal elections. The current trustees were elected for the 2025–2029 cycle, and the Board holds an organizational meeting each year to elect its Chair and Vice-Chair and confirm committee appointments.
| Trustee | Current role | Wards represented |
|---|---|---|
| Laura Hack | Board Chair | Wards 3 & 4 |
| Jenny Regal | Board Vice-Chair | Wards 1 & 2 |
| Cynthia Cordova | Trustee | Wards 5 & 10 |
| Patricia Bolger | Trustee | Wards 6 & 7 |
| Susan Vukadinovic | Trustee | Wards 8 & 9 |
| Nancy Close | Trustee | Wards 11 & 13 |
| Charlene May | Trustee | Wards 12 & 14 |
When to contact a trustee
CBE specifically points residents to trustees for questions about government education policy, CBE policy and Board priorities. Trustees also attend school council and school community events.

How to register a new student with the Calgary Board of Education
CBE registration is online through SchoolEngage. A student’s home address determines the designated school or schools for the regular program, so finding the correct school is part of the registration process rather than something families should guess from distance alone.
Find the designated school
Use CBE’s Find a School tool with the home address. School designation matters for regular-program registration.
Sign in to SchoolEngage
Existing CBE families can reach SchoolEngage through MyCBE. New CBE families can create a SchoolEngage account.
Add the student and choose the form
Kindergarten uses the Early Childhood Services registration form. Grades 1–12 use the student registration form.
Prepare identification and address documents
CBE says families should have student identification showing age, legal name and citizenship, proof of address, and a selfie with the parent’s or guardian’s government-issued photo ID.
Add guardianship documents when needed
If the child’s parents do not live together, CBE asks for documentation confirming guardianship.
Registration is not first-come, first-served: CBE states that admission is governed by Alberta’s Education Act and CBE Administrative Regulation 6090. Program availability, designated schools and other enrolment rules can affect placement.
CBE School Directory, designated schools and transfers
The CBE operates 252 schools in 2026–27. Its School Directory provides school contact information, grade configurations, programs and website links, while Find a School helps determine designated schools by address.
Need a school phone number?
Use the School Directory rather than a third-party directory. It contains current contact and program information for CBE schools.
Need your designated school?
Use the home address in Find a School. The designated school can differ by grade or program.
Want another CBE school?
Current CBE students interested in a school other than their designated school should use the transfer process. Students new to CBE must first register.
2026–27 CBE school bus registration, fees and late applications
Yellow school bus service is an annual service. For the 2026–27 year, registration opened May 13, 2026 through MyCBE. CBE asked families to register by June 14 to ensure students could be included in routes for the first day of classes.
Registered after June 14?
CBE still accepts late registrations, but students are added to an existing bus with available space. That stop may not be the closest congregated stop, and processing can be delayed during the busy start-of-year period.
Transportation contact
403-817-7433
transportation@cbe.ab.ca
Transportation office hours are listed as Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., excluding holidays and system-wide non-instruction days.
| 2026–27 yellow bus service | Fee | Local note |
|---|---|---|
| Regular or Alternative Program | $500 | Annual transportation fee listed by CBE. |
| Kindergarten one-way transportation | $250 | Applies to listed one-way Kindergarten service. |
| Alternative Address | $250 | See current CBE transportation conditions before registering. |
Bus-stop pickup: CBE asks families of Kindergarten students to meet the child at the bus door. For a Grade 1 or older student who does not receive door-to-door specialized transportation, a family can email Transportation if they want the route marked so a parent or guardian must meet the child.
CBE school fees, central fees and fee waivers
CBE separates school-based fees from central fees. School-based charges can relate to field trips, optional activities, enhanced resources or school-specific materials. Central fees include system-wide services such as student supplies, transportation and lunch supervision.
2026–27 student supplies
CBE lists $20 for half-day Kindergarten and $40 for full-day Kindergarten and Grades 1–6.
Fee waiver
Families who cannot afford qualifying central fees can apply through MyCBE. Waivers can cover transportation, lunch supervision, student supplies and musical instrument rental.
Payment flexibility
CBE allows partial payments through MyCBE. School fees may also be paid in person at the child’s school using debit or credit card.
Important: CBE states that no child is denied access to education because a family cannot afford fees. A waiver application still requires the applicable service registration, such as bus or lunch-supervision registration.
CBE routine records and Access to Information requests
Alberta’s current access process is described by CBE under the Access to Information Act (ATIA). CBE recommends trying the school or appropriate department first because most information can be provided through routine channels without a formal ATI request.
Routine information first
Contact the school or CBE department when the information is normally available through regular service channels. A formal ATI request is intended to be a later option when routine access is not enough.
Formal ATI request
A request must be made in writing to the Privacy & Access Office. Personal-information requests require proof of identity.
Student records are sensitive: do not post transcripts, assessments, health information, discipline records or personal identifiers into public Board comments or unrelated public-record requests. Use the student-record or school route that fits the request.
Calgary Board of Education contact information
The Contact Us page routes questions by topic, including transportation, fees, registration, facilities, employment and school support.
Fix common CBE calendar, registration and meeting problems
Your calendar still says Oct. 23
Use the revised 2026–27 calendar. CBE moved that non-instruction day to Oct. 19, 2026.
You cannot find the next Board agenda
Check again on the Friday before the meeting. If Friday is a statutory holiday, CBE says the material is posted by 10:00 a.m. Monday.
You registered for the bus late
CBE still accepts late registrations, but the student is placed on an existing route with space and the stop may not be the closest one.
You do not know which school to register at
Use Find a School with the home address before completing the SchoolEngage process.
School fees are difficult to pay
Check the Central Fee Waiver route in MyCBE rather than ignoring the balance. Eligible central fees can be waived after review.
You need a document from CBE
Ask the school or department first. CBE says a formal ATI request should generally be used only when routine access is not enough.
