Board matter, district service or school question?

Holmdel’s Board says its role is not to run the schools day to day but to ensure that the schools are well run through policy and governance. Board matters therefore include meetings, policy, budget decisions and formal Board action.

Registration, transportation, HR, special services and curriculum belong with district departments. Attendance, teachers, dismissal and student-specific daily concerns generally begin with the student’s school.

Addressing the Board

How public participation works at a Holmdel Board meeting

The Board provides an opportunity for citizens to speak during the public portion of regular meetings. The current Board page says the Board President recognizes speakers.

1

Confirm the meeting

Check the current agenda, date and location before attending.

2

Attend the public portion

The public portion of a regular meeting currently begins at approximately 7:00 p.m.

3

Wait to be recognized

The Board President acknowledges speakers during the public-comment opportunity.

4

State your name and address

The district’s participation guidance says speakers identify themselves so the information can be recorded.

5

Send complex questions in advance

For questions requiring extensive explanation, the district suggests sending them to the Board Secretary before the meeting.

Public-record caution: the district warns that correspondence sent to Board members or employees may be subject to disclosure under New Jersey Open Public Records laws. Avoid sending confidential student information through a general Board email.

Diligent Community

How to find a Holmdel BOE agenda, minutes or recording

The district has transitioned its current agenda and minutes workflow to Diligent Community. Older recordings remain available through the district’s meeting-recording archive.

1

Confirm the exact meeting

Match the date and meeting type before opening documents.

2

Open the Diligent agenda

Use the district-provided Diligent Community link rather than relying on an old downloaded agenda.

3

Separate proposed business from final action

An agenda shows what is scheduled for consideration; it does not by itself establish the final vote.

4

Check the minutes

Use Diligent minutes when you need the official meeting record.

5

Watch or listen for context

Holmdel maintains meeting recordings, including a 2026–27 archive.

Holmdel school calendar: verified dates and official calendar route

Holmdel Township School District publishes a one-page 2026–27 school calendar. Because the current calendar is embedded as a PDF and not every date was exposed in the district’s searchable text, only separately verified district dates are hard-coded below.

Date Verified district calendar item
Sept. 21, 2026 District closed in observance of Yom Kippur.
Feb. 13, 2027 Early dismissal for students; professional-development day for staff.
Feb. 16, 2027 Schools closed for Presidents’ Day.

June 18, 2027 Scheduled last day of school.

Use the one-page calendar for the complete year: holidays, breaks, professional-development days and emergency-calendar adjustments should be checked directly against the current district PDF before planning travel, custody schedules or childcare.
