Glastonbury Schools, Calendar & Board Meeting Help

The Glastonbury Board of Education is the local school board for Glastonbury Public Schools in Connecticut. Families usually come looking for one practical thing: a BOE meeting, the 2026–27 school calendar, an agenda, a school phone number, student registration, transportation, or the Central Office.

Those services do not all happen in the same building. Regular Board meetings are generally held at Town Hall, Central Office is on Hebron Avenue, and each school handles many student-level questions directly. This guide separates those routes so you can start in the right place.

Quick answer

Glastonbury Board of Education quick facts

Glastonbury Public Schools operates the town’s public-school system from Central Office at 628 Hebron Avenue. Board meetings, however, are generally held in the Town Council Chambers at Glastonbury Town Hall, so checking the meeting location matters before you travel.

Current Board calendar

Glastonbury Board of Education meetings

Board of Education meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. unless a posting says otherwise. In-person meetings are normally held in the Town Hall Town Council Chambers, 2155 Main Street, Glastonbury. The district also provides live streaming and on-demand meeting video through the Town of Glastonbury.

BoardBook and meeting records

How to find a Glastonbury BOE agenda, minutes or video

Glastonbury uses BoardBook for regular, special and committee agendas and minutes. The district also connects families to live and archived Town government video, which is useful when you want to hear the discussion behind a Board action.

1

Start with the BOE Meetings page

This keeps you on the current district route instead of opening an old meeting document from a search result.

2

Open BoardBook

Regular, special and committee agendas and minutes are posted through the BoardBook system.

3

Know when agendas appear

Regular-meeting agendas are generally posted on the Friday before the scheduled Monday meeting. Special and committee agendas are posted at least 24 hours before the meeting.

4

Use minutes after approval

The district posts minutes after the Board approves them at a subsequent meeting. An agenda is not the same thing as an approved record.

5

Use meeting video for context

Regular meetings are broadcast and available through the Town of Glastonbury’s government-access video system.

Agenda/minutes question? The district directs Board agenda, minutes, video and calendar questions to the Superintendent’s office at 860-652-7951.

Community participation

How public comment works at Glastonbury BOE meetings

Glastonbury provides both in-person and written public-comment options. The procedures are specific enough that checking them before a meeting can save you from missing the submission deadline.

⏱️

30-minute period

The Board sets aside 30 minutes for public comments.

🎀

3 minutes each

Each speaker is limited to three minutes and may speak once.

✍️

Sign up in person

A sign-up sheet is available in the back of the meeting room.

πŸ•›

Written deadline

Written comment must be submitted before 12 noon on the meeting day.

1

Check the current meeting agenda

Make sure the meeting is taking place and confirm whether the venue differs from Town Hall.

2

For in-person comment, sign in

Use the sign-up sheet at the meeting. The current instructions say speakers begin by stating their name and address.

3

Keep your statement within three minutes

The public-comment period itself is capped at 30 minutes, so preparing a focused statement is useful.

4

Or submit written comment before noon

The district’s online public-comment form accepts written comments for attachment to that meeting’s agenda.

Student privacy: public comments and written submissions connected to a Board meeting may become public records. Avoid including private health, special-education, discipline, custody, address or other student-specific confidential information.

2026–27 school year

Glastonbury school calendar and early-release details

Glastonbury posts both the full 2026–27 school calendar and a separate early-release schedule. Grades 7–12 began classes on September 2, 2026, followed by K–6 on September 3. The district currently projects June 14, 2027 as the final K–11 school day.

School opening

Grades 7–12: September 2, 2026.
K–6: September 3, 2026.

Projected last day

June 14, 2027 for Grades K–11, subject to weather/emergency make-up rules.

GHS graduation

June 14, 2027 is also the projected Glastonbury High School graduation date.

Weather make-up rule: the district says Grades K–11 can be extended by up to three June days if weather or emergencies close school. If additional days are needed, they are taken from the 2027 Spring Recess beginning April 12.

Elementary Wednesday early releases

K–5 elementary schools use recurring Wednesday early releases for staff professional development during the fall and spring. December, January and February Wednesdays are full days.

School / grade Regular professional-development early release
Buttonball Lane K–4 1:05 p.m.
Gideon Welles Grade 5 12:30 p.m.
Hebron Avenue 1:25 p.m.
Hopewell K–4 1:25 p.m.
Naubuc 1:05 p.m.
Nayaug 1:25 p.m.

K–5 pattern: the recurring Wednesday schedule runs from September 9 through November 2026 and again from March 3 through June 2027. Thanksgiving, the day before December recess and the final school day use separate early-dismissal times.

Glastonbury Public Schools and phone numbers

The district’s structure is more specific than a simple elementary/middle/high split. Gideon Welles serves Grade 6, Smith Middle serves Grades 7–8, and Eastbury houses several specialized district programs.

Start local for student-level issues: attendance, teacher communication, school events, pickup changes and building-specific questions usually belong with the student’s school rather than an individual Board member.

Enrollment

Registering a K–12 student in Glastonbury

Glastonbury uses an online registration process backed by PowerSchool. The district also makes one local rule especially clear: children who live in Glastonbury must register with Glastonbury Public Schools even when they will attend a regional magnet school.

1

Review placement and residency rules

Check the admission policy, residency requirements and Elementary School District by Street before assuming which elementary school serves your address.

2

Enter the student’s initial information

Submit the short registration start form with student and contact information.

3

Watch for the next-business-day email

The district says families normally receive account information and further registration instructions by the next business day.

4

Start registration within 10 days

The account can be deactivated if the registration process is not started within the district’s 10-day window.

5

Do not wait for the physical to begin

The district says to continue registration even if the health form is not ready. The completed health record must be on file before the student’s first day.

6

Wait for registrar confirmation

The registrar contacts the family, usually by email, when the process is complete or when additional information is needed.

2026–27 kindergarten

A child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2026 and meet residency requirements.

No kindergarten age waiver

The district says age-requirement waivers are not available for 2026–27 kindergarten enrollment.

Registration help: email registrar@glastonburyus.org or call 860-652-7940.

Housing instability: the district directs families experiencing homelessness or unstable housing to contact the district for confidential enrollment support. Do not postpone a child’s school enrollment simply because normal housing documents are difficult to obtain.

Transportation

Glastonbury school buses and the My Ride app

Glastonbury’s transportation setup is different from many school districts: the school system owns and operates its own fleet of buses and vans rather than contracting all transportation to an outside company. The department also manages athletic and field-trip transportation.

Transportation Coordinator

Angelo Balesano
628 Hebron Avenue
860-652-7295

Transportation hours: 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.

Versatrans My Ride

The My Ride K-12 app replaced the former My Stop app. Families must register using student information supplied by the district.

When to reach the stop The district recommends that children be ready 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup time.
Route tracking My Ride provides GPS-based bus/van location and estimated arrival information for normal morning and afternoon routes.
Update frequency The app’s bus/van location and ETA information updates automatically about every 30 seconds.
August route notices Routes are not final until family notifications are sent in late August and can still be adjusted during the school year.
Two-hour delay For the district’s standard two-hour delay, families generally add two hours to their normal bus pickup time.
Appeal route The Transportation page provides a formal Transportation Appeals Form.

Protect route information: the My Ride account uses student information and contains transportation details. Keep the account credentials private and use the app’s sharing feature when another caregiver needs access.

Budget and district planning

2026–27 Glastonbury education budget

Budget information has its own BOE resource page. The Board initially approved the 2026–27 education budget in January 2026, and additional revisions followed during the Town budget process. For current financial research, use the district budget page rather than an early proposal amount copied elsewhere.

Board-approved resources

The budget page includes the Superintendent’s proposed budget, Board-approved presentation and later 2026–27 budget documents.

Town process matters

In Glastonbury, the education budget also moves through the broader Town budget process, so proposal, Board-approved and final/revised figures should not be mixed.
