Princeton Schools, 2026–27 Calendar, BOE Meetings & Parent Routes
The Princeton Board of Education governs Princeton Public Schools in Princeton, New Jersey. Families usually arrive with a practical question—when the next Board meeting is, whether school is closed, which elementary school serves their address, what registration documents are required, where a bus stop is listed, or how to request a public record.
This independent guide connects those tasks to the right district source. Princeton’s Board calendar, school calendar and student-service pages answer different questions, so using the correct route matters more than simply finding a page with “Princeton schools” in its title.
Princeton Board of Education and district facts
Princeton Public Schools serves students through four K–5 elementary schools, Princeton Middle School and Princeton High School. The district’s central administration and regular Board meeting location are at 25 Valley Road.
Princeton-specific governance: the Board roster also includes a Cranbury sending-district representative. That representative does not have the same voting authority on every matter; New Jersey law limits voting to qualifying matters affecting sending-district students or governance covered by the sending relationship.
The Board, district offices and schools have different jobs
The Board sets policy and makes decisions on educational, financial and personnel matters for Princeton Public Schools. That does not mean every parent question belongs at a Board meeting.
Use Board pages for
Public meetings, agendas, minutes, Board policies, budget information, public notices, elections, committee work and governance records.
Use the school for
Attendance, daily schedules, classroom questions, school events, teachers, student support and most building-specific matters.
Use a district office for
Registration, residency, transportation, curriculum, special education, business matters, employment and public-record requests.
Privacy rule: public comment is not the right route for a student’s health information, disability records, discipline matter, grades, custody documents or another confidential education record.
Princeton Board of Education meetings
Regular Board meetings are held at the Valley Road Administration Building. The Board usually calls the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., immediately moves into closed session, and begins the public session at approximately 7:00 p.m. unless the posted notice says otherwise.
| Date | Meeting status | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 27, 2026 | Board Meeting | Next listed regular Board meeting after Oct. 2, 2026. |
| Nov. 17, 2026 | Board Meeting | Check agenda and public notice before attending. |
| Dec. 15, 2026 | Board Meeting | Last regular meeting currently listed for calendar year 2026. |
| Jan. 5, 2027 | Reorganization Meeting | Annual organization/reorganization meeting. |
| Jan. 19, 2027 | Board Meeting | District marks this and several later 2027 dates as tentative. |
| Feb. 16, 2027 | Tentative Board Meeting | Recheck the live schedule before relying on the date. |
| Mar. 16, 2027 | Tentative Board Meeting | Current annual schedule; subject to later Board notice. |
| Apr. 27, 2027 | Tentative Board Meeting | Verify on the live meeting page. |
| May 11, 2027 | Tentative Board Meeting | Additional meetings may be added. |
| June 8, 2027 | Tentative Board Meeting | End-of-year listed meeting date. |
Do not rely only on the annual list: Princeton states that additional meetings may be added as necessary. Committee meetings also appear separately on the district calendar, so a committee event is not the same as a full Board meeting.
How to find a Princeton BOE agenda, minutes or livestream
The district keeps a dedicated Agendas and Minutes archive. Use the agenda to understand what is scheduled for consideration, then use minutes or the later official record when you need to know what actually happened.
Open Board Agendas and Minutes
Start from the district archive instead of a search-engine PDF result.
Match the exact meeting date
Princeton holds regular, organization and occasional additional meetings. Make sure the date and meeting type match your question.
Read the agenda before the meeting
The agenda shows proposed business and attachments. It does not mean every proposal was approved.
Use the meeting record afterward
Return for minutes or subsequent Board records if your question is about formal action.
Watch live or recorded meetings
Princeton links live and previously recorded Board meetings through its official YouTube route.
Princeton Board members and the Cranbury representative
The official January 2026 Board agenda lists the following Princeton Board members. It also lists Katherine Lara as the representative from the Cranbury sending district.
| Name | Role shown in 2026 agenda | Governance note |
|---|---|---|
| Dafna Kendal | President | Princeton Board member. |
| Susan Kanter | Vice-President | Princeton Board member. |
| Beth Behrend | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Adam Bierman | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Mara Franceschi | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Eleanor Hubbard | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Ari Meisel | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Christopher Santarpio | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Erica Snyder | Board member | Princeton Board member. |
| Katherine Lara | Cranbury Representative | Voting is limited to applicable sending-district matters under New Jersey law. |
Why Cranbury appears here: Cranbury is a sending district for high-school students. The district’s own Board notice explains that the Cranbury representative may vote only on qualifying matters affecting sending-district students or related governance under N.J.S.A. 18A:38-8.1.
The district publishes ppsboe@princetonk12.org. Its Board page says this email reaches Board members, the Superintendent and the Business Administrator.
Princeton Public Schools calendar: use the right calendar layer
Princeton’s online calendar combines district dates, Board meetings, preschool events and individual school events. Families can filter by Community Park, Johnson Park, Littlebrook, Riverside, Princeton Middle School, Princeton High School or the district-level calendar.
District calendar
Use this for school closures, districtwide staff-development days, conference schedules and major district events.
School calendar
Use the individual school filter for rotating schedules, school-specific events, conferences and building activities.
| Upcoming date | District calendar item | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 12, 2026 | Schools Closed – Staff Development | No regular student classes. |
| Nov. 5, 2026 | Schools Closed – NJEA Convention | District homepage lists schools closed. |
| Nov. 6, 2026 | Schools & Offices Closed – NJEA Convention | Both schools and district offices listed as closed. |
| Nov. 18, 2026 | PK–5 Conferences – Community Park only | This item does not apply identically to every elementary school. |
| Nov. 19–20, 2026 | PK–8 Conferences | Check the school-level schedule and dismissal details. |
| Nov. 23–24, 2026 | PK–8 Conferences | Use the student’s school calendar for exact timing. |
Do not treat every calendar entry as districtwide: Princeton’s combined calendar includes Board committees, individual-school schedules, preschool items and district events. Use the calendar filters before making childcare or transportation plans.
Which Princeton Public School serves which grade level?
Princeton has four neighborhood elementary schools serving Kindergarten through Grade 5, followed by one district middle school and one district high school. Elementary assignment depends on the student’s address.
Community Park School
K–5 elementary school. Community Park also houses Princeton’s Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion program.
Johnson Park School
K–5 neighborhood elementary school serving students assigned through the district’s residency zones.
Littlebrook School
K–5 neighborhood elementary school. Registration zoning should be checked before assuming assignment.
Riverside School
K–5 neighborhood elementary school serving another Princeton attendance area.
Princeton Middle School
District middle school serving Grades 6–8.
Princeton High School
District high school serving Grades 9–12, including the sending relationship with Cranbury.
Elementary zoning: the registration page tells families to use the district residency manual to locate the elementary school associated with their address. Kindergarten and Grade 1 families can also explore Community Park’s Dual Language Immersion option.
How to register a child in Princeton Public Schools
Princeton registration begins with a pre-registration form. After approval, the family receives follow-up instructions for the district’s online registration forms. Families of students previously enrolled elsewhere should also complete a records-release request.
Check Princeton residency and school zoning
Use the district’s residency manual to confirm the student’s elementary attendance area when applicable.
Complete pre-registration
Submit the district’s pre-registration form. Once approved, follow the email instructions for the remaining online forms.
Prepare proof of the child’s identity
The district lists the child’s original birth certificate, visa or passport.
Prepare residency evidence
Provide the appropriate primary residency document plus three secondary documents.
Add health and school records
Registration requires immunization information, the applicable physical form and a records-release form. Grades 9–12 also require transcripts.
Include special documents when applicable
Provide standardized test scores, IEP/504 documents and custody, legal or placement paperwork when they apply to the student.
Primary residency proof examples
Deed, tax bill, closing documents, executed lease, university housing letter, seminary housing letter or an applicable notarized affidavit of residency.
Secondary residency proof
The district requires three secondary documents, with examples including utility bills, pay stub, car registration, insurance documents and other listed proof.
2026 transportation deadlines mattered: registrations after July 24 could lose access to a newly created bus stop until the week of Sept. 21, and after the Aug. 24 blackout date transportation might not have been available for the start of school. Late-year families should therefore ask Transportation what is currently available instead of assuming an immediate new stop.
Princeton full-day Kindergarten and Dual Language Immersion
Princeton Public Schools provides full-day Kindergarten. All Princeton residents who meet the district’s enrolment requirements are eligible to enroll, and incoming Kindergarten students can express interest in Community Park’s Dual Language Immersion program.
Community Park DLI
For 2026–27, the Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion program was open to incoming Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. Families indicate interest during registration through the Home Language Survey.
DLI information session
The district states that attendance at a parent information session is a prerequisite for entry into the program, including for families that previously attended a session or already have a child in DLI.
Princeton school bus eligibility, stops and delayed openings
Princeton Public Schools provides transportation to elementary and middle school students living two miles or more from school and to high school students living more than 2.5 miles from school.
Find the bus stop in PowerSchool
Families should look under More → Bus Information. The district specifically notes that bus details are listed in Bus Information, not in a menu simply labelled Transportation.
Transportation Office
Phone: 609-806-4209
Use this number for a late bus, a lost item, an unknown stop or other transportation concern.
Princeton Public Schools 2026–27 budget information
The Board publishes a separate School Budget Information page rather than burying budget material in meeting minutes. For 2026–27 it currently provides the user-friendly budget, budget adoption materials and preliminary budget presentation.
User-friendly budget
Use this route for the district’s summarized annual budget information.
Budget adoption and presentation
The same page provides 2026–27 budget adoption and preliminary presentation material for readers who need more detail.
How to submit an OPRA request to Princeton Public Schools
New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act allows a member of the public to request specific existing public documents. Princeton Public Schools says the law was amended in 2024 and that its current specific request form must be used.
Check whether the record is already published
Agendas, minutes, budgets, policies and public notices may already be online.
Request an existing identifiable record
OPRA is for specific existing public documents, not a general request for the district to research or create a new record.
Use Princeton’s required OPRA form
The district states that the form linked on its OPRA page is required for requests under the amended law.
Email the completed form
Send the completed district form to OPRA@princetonk12.org.
OPRA is not a shortcut to a child’s private education file: student transcripts, health information, special-education records and other protected student information should go through the applicable student-record process.
Princeton Board of Education address and contact route
What to do when the obvious route does not work
You found a committee meeting, not a full Board meeting
The district calendar includes Personnel, Policy, Student Equity and Achievement, Long-Term Planning and Operations committee meetings. Use the Board Meetings page for the full Board schedule.
You do not know your elementary school
Use the residency manual during registration. Do not pick the elementary school only because it looks closest on a map.
Your new bus stop is not ready
Late registration can affect creation of a new stop. Call Transportation rather than assuming the online registration created immediate bus service.
You moved within Princeton
Update the address with Central Registration and provide new residency documents before expecting a new school bus assignment.
You need to know what the Board approved
Do not stop at the agenda. Return to the minutes or later official meeting record.
You need a public document
Search the district’s published Board and Business Office pages first. If the record is not already available, use the official OPRA form.
