Elmore County Board of Education: Calendar, Meetings & Registration

🏫 Elmore County Public Schools • Wetumpka, Alabama

Elmore County Schools Calendar, Board Meetings, Registration & Parent Help

The Elmore County Board of Education governs Elmore County Public Schools in Alabama. Families use the district for the 2026–27 calendar, school zones, registration, PowerSchool, ParentSquare, transportation, meals, student services and school contacts, while employees and community members use it for Board meetings, policies, jobs, salary schedules and district records.

This guide separates Board-level business from school-level tasks and explains which registration, transfer, transportation, records or support route fits your situation. Current deadlines and office information are clearly identified so parents do not rely on an expired calendar, old meeting schedule, outdated job posting or unofficial student portal.

💼

2026–27 salary schedule

The current Human Resources salary page has been updated for the 2026–27 school year.

Deadline alert: the district’s published August 1, 2026 first-payment deadline for approved out-of-district students and August 1 affidavit-renewal deadline are now in the past. If these apply to your student and were missed, contact ECPS for the current instruction rather than treating an old approval as sufficient.

District-size data note: ECPS’s current homepage uses two presentations of district scale. Introductory copy describes about 11,200 students across 17 accredited campuses plus the Technical Center, while the Fast Facts block displays 11,342 enrolled students and 20 campuses. Because those figures are presented differently by ECPS itself, this guide does not turn either number into a fixed school-count claim.

Speaking to the Board

How stakeholders can address the Elmore County Board

1

Contact your district representative

ECBOE allows stakeholders to communicate with the Board member representing their district.

2

Or contact the Superintendent’s office

The district also lists communication through the Superintendent or administrative assistant.

3

Request to address the Board before the agenda is sent

For planned participation, make the request before the agenda is distributed to Board members.

4

Meeting-day option

The current School Board page says five speaking slots are available 15 minutes before the meeting.

Open-forum boundary: ECBOE says personal attacks against a Board employee or student are not allowed. Do not publicly disclose private student grades, health information, IEP details, discipline files, custody records or other protected records.

Verify the current participation instructions Open ECBOE School Board information →
District calendar

Use the Board-approved 2026–27 school calendar

The official Publications page currently lists 2026-2027 School Calendar Approved Nov 2025.pdf. Older calendar files remain available, so check the school-year label before printing or saving a PDF.

📆

District dates

Use the Board-approved calendar for districtwide student-day and break planning.

🏫

Campus events

Use the individual school site for athletics, performances, parent nights, bell schedules and local activities.

📱

Changes

Use ParentSquare and district/school announcements for emergency, weather or operational changes.

Current-year correction: 2025–26 is no longer the school year families should treat as the active planning calendar in August 2026. Use the 2026–27 file.

New, returning, transfer, affidavit, virtual or homeschool?

Student situation Current district route Key instruction
Entering kindergarten New Student Registration Use new-student registration even if the child attended a district child-development program.
Moving into Elmore County New Student Registration Residency documents must be available by the start of school.
Moving to a different ECPS community New Student Registration A community move can change school assignment.
Returning, same community School form packet Current guidance says these students do not complete summer record updates the same way as new students.
Live outside Elmore County Out-of-District application Approval, payment, behavior/attendance conditions and parent transportation apply.
Live in county but want another ECPS community Hardship Request New requests require documentation and are decided through district/school review.
Employee’s child Intra/Inter District Transfer Current registration page says an already approved employee transfer automatically renews.
Affidavit enrollment Affidavit process Notarized affidavit and required residency documentation apply.

Out-of-district enrollment

Living outside Elmore County but requesting ECPS?

Application decision: ECPS sends the decision through the email entered in the application.
August 1 payment: the first payment for the 2026–27 year was required by August 1 for a student to start school.
Later application: ECPS says an approved application submitted in the second quarter or later may have a prorated fee.
Transportation: parent/guardian is responsible for getting the student to and from school.
No bus-address workaround: families may not drop a student at an address of convenience simply to use a district bus.
Attendance & conduct: excessive absences or multiple office referrals may jeopardize continued approval.

Missed August 1? Because that deadline is already past as of this audit, contact ECPS for current payment/enrollment instructions rather than assuming the student can start based on the approval email alone.

Hardship requests

Living in Elmore County but requesting another community’s school

1

Confirm it is really a hardship request

Hardship is for an Elmore County resident requesting a school different from the normal zoned school.

2

New request? Gather the required school records

The current 2026 instructions require applicable grades, attendance and discipline documentation for new hardship applications.

3

Principal decision

The district says the hardship decision is up to the school principal as part of the review process.

4

Plan your own transportation

The school of choice is outside the student’s regular route.

Already on a hardship? The specific 2026 Registration page says not to submit a new hardship request for the upcoming year; existing hardship placements were automatically reviewed for approval or denial.

Conflicting generic wording: ECPS’s general Enrollment overview broadly says special enrollment requests are annual, while the detailed current Registration page gives specific automatic-review or automatic-renewal instructions for some existing hardships and employee transfers. Follow the detailed Registration instructions for your exact 2026–27 situation.

Affidavit enrollment

Affidavit renewal, documents and appointment help

📄

Documents

Review the official Affidavit Requirements and gather all requested residency evidence before your appointment.

✍️

Notarization

ECPS currently says affidavits can be notarized at the Board office for $5.

☎️

First-time affidavit

Current registration guidance directs first-time affidavit families to schedule an appointment and lists 334-567-1290.

2026 renewal deadline: ECPS says an existing affidavit had to be renewed before August 1, 2026 for the student to start school. That date has passed; contact the district if renewal was not completed.

Virtual school

THE EDGE: use the application in the correct order

1

Complete THE EDGE application

Virtual placement starts with the virtual-school application.

2

Wait for acceptance

Do not assume application submission equals enrollment.

3

Complete Gateway after acceptance

The current district instructions explicitly put Gateway registration after the acceptance notice.

Homeschool participation

Sports, band, clubs and credit-bearing courses

ECPS’s registration page provides separate participation pathways for eligible homeschool students who want to participate in district activities or coursework.

Option Current ECPS note
Sports Eligible homeschool students may apply to participate and must meet participation requirements.
Band Separate homeschool participation application is available.
Clubs / extracurriculars Eligible students may apply under the district’s homeschool participation route.
Credit-bearing ECPS course Current listed fee is $285 after approval and before enrollment.
Non-traditional private/other-program credited course Current district page lists $1,000 plus any required course fees.

Transportation: homeschool families are responsible for transportation to and from participating school activities.

Parent portals

PowerSchool and ParentSquare solve different problems

📊

PowerSchool Parent Portal

ECPS says parents can review live information such as grades, attendance, homework assignments, discipline records and other student data.

📣

ParentSquare

Used for district, school and classroom communication through email, text, app notifications and web access.

One guardian login: ECPS says each legal guardian should have one PowerSchool login that can show all enrolled children.
Wrong child or multiple accounts? Contact the child’s school to correct account associations.
Login information: the district communicates login information annually.
Security: navigate from elmoreco.com or your verified school page before entering credentials.

Attendance & absences

Use the school for daily attendance and the district form for advance requests

🏫

Same-day absence

Start with the student’s school attendance office or the official attendance route supplied by that campus.

📄

Planned absence

Administrative Services currently maintains a Prior Approval / Pre-Approval Absence form among district resources.

Choice enrollment: attendance matters beyond ordinary attendance consequences. Excessive absences can also affect hardship and out-of-district approval under current registration guidance.
