Barrow County School Calendar, BOE Meetings & Winder District Office
The Barrow County Board of Education is the nine-member governing board for Barrow County School System. Families usually reach this page for one of four things: the school calendar, the next BOE meeting, the Winder district office, or help finding registration, transportation and public-record information.
This guide keeps those local Barrow County routes separate so you do not confuse a student calendar with a Board meeting schedule or send a student-record request through the wrong public-record process.

Barrow County 2026β2027 school calendar: what families should know
The Board approved both the 2026β2027 and 2027β2028 student calendars after a 30-day public-comment period and district survey. The district reported 3,083 survey responses and said the final calendar reflects strong support for full-week Fall, Thanksgiving and Spring breaks, two weeks of Winter Break, and finishing the school year before Memorial Day.
First day
The district’s registration guidance identifies Friday, July 31, 2026 as the first day students needed to be ready to attend.
Fall Break
The live October calendar lists Oct. 5β9, 2026 as Fall Break with no school.
No digital-learning days
The district says the approved 2026β27 and 2027β28 student calendars do not contain digital-learning days.
Barrow County BOE meeting schedule and October 2026 dates
BCSS says regular business meetings are typically held on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m., while work sessions are typically held on the last Tuesday. Actual dates can move, so the live district calendar and eBoard are more reliable than applying that rule automatically.
| Date | Time | Meeting | Location / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct. 13, 2026 | 6:00β7:00 p.m. | October BOE Meeting | Next listed regular Board meeting after Oct. 2. |
| Oct. 27, 2026 | 6:00β7:00 p.m. | October Work Session | District calendar lists this as the October work session. |
October is a good example of why you should verify: the regular October 2026 meeting is listed for Oct. 13 rather than simply assuming the first Tuesday. Check eBoard and the live calendar before attending.
How to find Barrow County BOE agendas, minutes and meeting records
Barrow County School System uses eBoard as its governance transparency portal. Start from the official BOE page or current Board Brief, then follow the district’s eBoard link for the latest posted meeting information.
Start from the BCSS Board page
This helps you avoid old agenda links or unofficial copies of Board documents.
Open the eBoard Transparency Portal
Use eBoard for the most recent governance and meeting material posted by BCSS.
Match the meeting date and type
Barrow County holds regular meetings, work sessions and occasionally called meetings, so make sure the document belongs to the correct session.
Use later records for final action
An agenda shows scheduled business. When you need to confirm what happened, use the later official meeting record, Board Brief or other district record.
How to request to appear before the Barrow County Board of Education
The district’s current Process & Feedback page says people who want to appear before the Board must complete the district form and submit it to the Superintendent’s Office no later than noon on the Thursday before the regularly scheduled BOE meeting.
Formal Board appearance
Use the district request-to-appear form and follow the deadline shown on the current Process & Feedback page.
School-level concern
BCSS recommends starting with your child’s principal or School Governance Team for individual school or classroom concerns.
Student privacy: do not place private student records, medical details, disability information or confidential family information into a public Board presentation. Use the appropriate school or district private process instead.

What Barrow County families need for student registration
Online registration is required for students who are new to BCSS, return after attending another school system, or have a custody change. Students already enrolled in a BCSS school, including Pre-K students, do not complete a new registration just because a new school year begins.
Prepare proof of residency
The district accepts examples such as a utility bill, settlement statement or signed rental/lease agreement dated within 30 days. Families living with someone else should contact registration about alternate documentation.
Prepare identification documents
BCSS lists a current government-issued parent or guardian photo ID and the student’s birth certificate or another acceptable proof of age and identity.
Social Security card or waiver
The district requests the student’s Social Security card for identification and future scholarship/post-secondary purposes, but says a parent may sign a waiver declining to provide it at enrollment.
Bring custody documents when applicable
If the enrolling adult is not the birth parent, BCSS lists custody documents or a completed and notarized Kinship Caregiver form.
Upload Georgia health forms
The district lists Georgia Immunization Form 3231 and Health Form 3300 among the registration requirements.
Document completeness matters: BCSS says a child does not have an enrollment until all required documents have been uploaded. Missing documents can delay enrollment and may require rescheduling.
2026 first-day readiness: the district advised families to have registration and all required documentation submitted by July 13, 2026 to help ensure a student was ready for the July 31 first day.
Find a Barrow County school zone or bus stop
The registration hub links families directly to both Find Your School Zone and Find Your Bus Stop. Use those district tools rather than assuming a school based only on a Winder, Auburn, Bethlehem, Statham or other Barrow County mailing address.
School assignment
Use the district’s school-zone tool before registration when you are not sure which BCSS school serves the home address.
Bus stop lookup
The registration hub also links to the district bus-stop finder for transportation planning.
Moving within Barrow County? a new address can affect residency documentation, school assignment and transportation. Update the district rather than relying on the previous route or school.
Open Records requests vs. student transcripts
The district makes an important distinction: its Open Records form is not for student transcript requests. Transcripts and student records use a separate district route.
Public records
Use the Georgia Open Records request process for qualifying public records. The district accepts the online form or a printable form mailed to its Winder office.
Student transcripts
Do not use the Open Records form for transcripts. Use the district’s Transcripts and Student Records page instead.
Who runs Barrow County School System day to day?
The Board governs the system and adopts policy; district administration carries out operations under the Superintendent. For day-to-day district administration, use the appropriate BCSS department rather than treating every question as a Board matter.
Dr. Dallas LeDuff
Superintendent of Barrow County School System.
Matthew Thompson
Deputy Superintendent and the official contact named on the Open Records request page.
Executive Cabinet
BCSS also lists leadership for academics, finance, support services, system operations and other district functions.
