Jones County Board of Education in Gray: Meetings, Calendar & Parent Routes

For families in Gray and across Jones County, the Board of Education page is only one part of the school system. Meeting schedules and policies run through the Board and Simbli, while enrollment, buses, school calendars, records, jobs and student services have their own district routes.

This guide puts those pieces together using the current 2026–27 Jones County School System information, with extra attention to dates and procedures that are easy to misunderstand or miss.

Know the authority

Board of Education, Central Office and individual schools are not the same contact

A Board question is usually about governance: Board meetings, policy, agendas, public participation, official Board actions or public records. A parent trying to enroll a child, fix a bus issue or speak with a school should usually start somewhere else.

Board of Education

Use Board resources for meeting schedules, Simbli agendas, Board policies, work sessions, public-participation rules and meeting recordings.

Central Office

Use the district Central Office for centralized K–12 enrollment, district administration, open records and other system-level services.

Your child’s school

Start with the school for classroom matters, attendance, day-to-day schedules, school events and most student-specific questions.

Student privacy: a public Board meeting is not the right place to publish a child’s medical information, disability records, discipline details, grades, Social Security number, residency documents or other private education records.

Current Board schedule

Jones County Board of Education 2026–27 meeting dates

The district’s current FY2027 schedule is especially important because it no longer matches the simple β€œsecond Tuesday” wording that still appears in the footer of parts of the district website. Beginning with July 2026, the published meeting calendar uses Mondays.

As of October 2, 2026, the next listed regular Board meeting is Monday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m. The district specifically notes that this meeting is on the third Monday because Fall Break conflicts with the usual October timing.

Do not plan from the footer alone: pages on the district site still display β€œ2nd Tuesday of every month,” while the separate 2026–27 Board schedule lists Monday meetings. For an actual visit, use the dated FY2027 schedule and current Simbli notice.

Agenda, policy and video

How to find Jones County BOE agendas and meeting records

Jones County links its Board of Education portal to Simbli. The district also maintains a separate video archive, which is useful when you need to watch a completed meeting rather than simply read its agenda.

1

Start from the district Board link

The Jones County Quick Links page sends Board visitors to the official district-linked Simbli system.

2

Match the meeting date

Use the current 2026–27 schedule to make sure you are opening the correct meeting, especially around work sessions and the October Fall Break exception.

3

Read the agenda before the meeting

An agenda shows planned business. It should not be treated as proof that an item was ultimately approved, rejected or amended.

4

Use the recording for past meetings

The district video page currently includes 2026 regular meeting recordings, including meetings from January through September.

Simbli Board portal

Use for official Board information, agenda materials and current meeting-management resources.

Public participation

Speaking at a Jones County Board meeting

The district currently highlights a β€œPublic Participation in Board Meetings” reminder and links separate Policy and Regulations pages through its Board menu. Because participation rules can be revised, use those current Board documents rather than assuming the procedure from another Georgia district.

Before the meeting: open the current agenda and the district-linked public-participation policy/regulations.
If you need to speak: follow the current sign-up or participation instructions shown for that meeting or policy.
If a rule is unclear: call the Central Office at 478-986-3032 before traveling.
If the issue concerns one child: ask for the appropriate private administrative route rather than placing confidential education information in public comments.

Why this section does not invent a speaking limit: the district’s indexed reminder exposes links to its policy and regulations, but the current Simbli policy text was not reliably retrievable during this research. The live policy should control the sign-up method and time limits.

Centralized enrollment

How to register a new K–12 student in Jones County Schools

Jones County changed its process in 2026. Effective March 16, 2026, new K–12 enrollment became centralized at the district Central Office. Families complete the online registration and document upload first, then book an in-person appointment with Centralized Registration to finish enrollment.

1

Complete the online student registration

Start from the district’s current K–12 registration page and upload the required documentation.

2

Gather the child’s required records

Jones County currently lists a certified birth certificate, Georgia Immunization Record Form 3231, Vision-Hearing-Dental-Nutrition Form 3300, the child’s Social Security card and the guardian’s driver’s license.

3

Prepare proof of residency

The acceptable evidence depends on whether the family owns or rents the residence. Do not assume a water, cable or internet bill is enough.

4

Request records from the previous school

The district says families may need the withdrawal form and transcript or final report card, plus critical and specialized records. These should be sealed or sent by the previous school.

5

Book the Centralized Registration appointment

After the online step, schedule the required in-person appointment to finalize enrollment.

Homeowner residency proof

The current instructions require a property-tax statement or mortgage statement, plus a current power bill.

Renter residency proof

Provide a rental agreement with start/end dates or month-to-month terms, plus two additional approved proofs such as an electrical bill, paycheck stub, car insurance or bank statement showing the address.

Utility-document exception: Jones County says a water, cable or internet bill is not accepted as residency proof unless the guardian’s driver’s license shows the same address.

Pre-K is separate

Jones County Pre-K registration is not the same as K–12 enrollment

Pre-K has a separate registration page and contact route. The current Pre-K instructions ask for the certified birth certificate, Form 3231, Form 3300, the child’s Social Security card, the guardian’s driver’s license and applicable proof of residency.

Transfers and tuition

Jones County school choice and out-of-district tuition

The current School Choice page separates resident transfer requests from the out-of-district tuition option. A separate request is required for each child, and the published process applies to students in kindergarten through grade 12.

K–12 school choice

Applications are reviewed by the district’s School Choice Committee. The Centralized Enrollment Specialist sends decisions by email.

Out-of-district tuition

The 2026–27 School Choice guidance lists tuition at $2,500 per student per year for approved out-of-district tuition students.

Pre-K exception: the district says Pre-K students do not qualify for transfers or tuition under this School Choice process.

School Choice decisions depend on the current application process

Check the active district page for current application windows, available choices and instructions before submitting anything.

Bus riders

Jones County school bus registration and My Ride K-12

Jones County uses My Ride K-12 for bus rider registration. The district’s 2026–27 instructions say a separate form must be completed for each child who will ride a bus to or from school.

Using a computer

Sign in or create an account, open Forms, choose the 2026–2027 Bus Rider Registration form and complete it for each child.

Using a phone

Install My Ride K-12, sign in or create an account, open the menu, choose Forms, select the 2026–27 Bus Rider Registration and complete one form per child.

Published registration window: the district originally announced May 19–July 19, 2026 for all 2026–27 bus riders. That window has passed. A family enrolling or requesting transportation after that period should use the live My Ride K-12 instructions or contact Transportation rather than assuming the child is already assigned to a route.

Eight-school directory

Jones County schools and phone numbers

The district currently identifies eight schools in the system: four elementary schools, two middle schools, Jones County High School and Jones County Pre-K. The College and Career Academy is linked separately by the district and is not counted in the homepage’s eight-school total.

Useful local shortcut: if the question is about attendance, a teacher, school pickup, a student schedule or a school event, call the school first. Use the Central Office or Board only when the issue belongs at district level.

Open records

Jones County BOE open records vs. student records

Jones County provides an official Open Records Request route for qualifying public district records. The district states that requests may be filed under O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 and that administrative or copying charges can apply.

Public / Board records

Use the district’s records route for qualifying public records related to district operations, Board matters and other public documentation.

Private student records

Transcripts, medical records, individualized education records, discipline files and other protected student information should go through the appropriate school or district student-record process instead.

Mailing / office address Jones County Schools, 125 Stewart Avenue, Gray, GA 31032
Possible fees The district says administrative and copying fees may apply and the requester will be notified about charges before fulfillment.
Need transparency documents first?

Check Open JCSS before filing a request. The transparency page groups budget and financial documents, performance information, records and Open Records/Open Meetings resources.

Employment

Applying for a Jones County School System job

The district directs prospective employees to an online Recruitment and Hiring application. Applicants can apply for one or more openings, submit applications electronically, attach a rΓ©sumΓ© or cover letter and update their application later.

Application access

The online application is available 24 hours a day. Use the current vacancies link rather than a cached job result because school openings can close.

What happens afterward

The district says departments review completed applications and selected candidates are invited to interview. Because of application volume, the district does not contact every applicant individually about status.

Common problems

Fix the Jones County school information problems that cause the most confusion

The website says β€œ2nd Tuesday,” but the meeting calendar says Monday: follow the dated 2026–27 meeting schedule and current Simbli notice. The FY2027 schedule is more specific.
You searched Jones County and landed on North Carolina: check for Gray, GA 31032 and the official domain jones.k12.ga.us.
Your new student’s enrollment is not finished: K–12 registration now includes online registration/document upload plus an in-person Centralized Registration appointment.
Your residency document was rejected: compare it against the homeowner/renter list. Water, cable and internet bills have a specific restriction in the current instructions.
You enrolled after the bus registration window: use the current My Ride K-12 instructions or contact Transportation instead of assuming a route has automatically been assigned.
You need a past Board meeting: check both Simbli for meeting materials and the district’s JC BOE Meeting Recordings page for posted video.
You need a public document: search Open JCSS first; if the record is not posted, use the official Open Records Request route.
You need a student’s private file: contact the school or appropriate district student-record office rather than submitting confidential information through a public Board process.

Before you rely on a date

Use the live Jones County source for time-sensitive decisions

This page is an independent navigation guide, not the Jones County Board of Education or Jones County School System. Meeting notices, school closures, enrollment procedures, transportation assignments, Board policies and calendar changes can be updated after an article is published.

For a same-day decision, open the official JCSS page or current Simbli entry first. That is especially important before attending a Board meeting, missing school for a calendar date, submitting registration documents or relying on an old bus assignment.

Best next step: identify whether your task belongs to the Board, Central Office, Transportation or your child’s school, then use the corresponding official link above.
