New students register through Scribbles
Chilton County Schools now uses Scribbles for student registration and student-record workflows. All new students register online.
Important current-year conflict: the registration page correctly says 2026–27 applications opened April 1, 2026, but the same page still contains an older sentence telling a first-time student “this year” to use 2025–26. In August 2026, select the 2026–27 application for the current academic year or confirm with the registrar if the portal wording is unclear.
New-student checklist
Uploaded documents can be submitted through the application or delivered to the Chilton County Board of Education, ATTN: Registrar. The district says the registrar will call or email if additional information is needed.

Returning students are specifically told that they will not register online.
Changed address, custody information or contact details? Contact the child’s current school for the correct update route rather than creating a second student record.
Transferring from one Chilton County school to another
An in-district transfer is not the same as a first-time registration. The district tells families who want to transfer schools within Chilton County to contact the local/home school to start the process.
Avoid duplicate enrollment: do not select “new student” merely because you want a different school inside the same district.

For the 2026–27 First Class Pre-K cycle, children had to be 4 years old by September 1, 2026. Children not chosen through the drawing are placed on the waiting list.
Kindergarten
Districtwide Kindergarten Registration Week was April 13–17, 2026. A family registering after that week should complete the current online registration and contact the local school for any assessment or appointment still required.
New to Chilton County
Complete the current Scribbles new-student process and upload or deliver required documents.
Attended Chilton Pre-K
The district says these students receive a contact sheet to verify information and identify the Kindergarten school; another online registration is not required.
Pre-K selection and Kindergarten registration are different processes. Do not assume that a Pre-K waiting-list position is the same as K–12 enrollment status.
Ask the school for a qualified translator
Chilton County’s current Federal Programs guidance is unusually clear about who should interpret a school conference or IEP meeting.
Use
School-board personnel or a translator provided through the school/district.
Do not rely on
The student, sibling, cousin, friend, neighbor, pastor/minister or a student from a language class as the formal conference/IEP translator.
ParentSquare also supports automatic two-way translation for school and family messages, but an important IEP or formal conference should still use the district’s appropriate interpreter process.

The district says all parents already have a ParentSquare account. Parents who do not activate it can still receive an email digest and emergency phone calls.

All students receive free breakfast and lunch
No regular meal application is required for 2026–27. The current district Child Nutrition page says CEP funding provides another year of free breakfast and lunch to all Chilton County students.

Immunization, medication and school nursing
The current district Health Services page says a team of 18 school nurses serves students across 15 campuses.

Review the child’s Alabama Certificate of Immunization and make sure it is current.
Medication
A School Medication Prescriber/Parent Authorization must be on file with the nurse for medication kept on campus.
School Nurse
School nurses provide direct care, screenings, medication administration, health education and family-provider coordination.
Do not send medication without resolving the school procedure. Complete the applicable authorization with the school nurse first.
School absence vs district truancy question
For an ordinary absence or excuse, start with the student’s school. District-level attendance resources include compulsory-attendance information and the Truancy Officer.
Freshness warning: the current Attendance page still exposes an “Attendance Policies 2023-2024” link. Do not treat that old linked file as the current 2026–27 attendance policy without checking the current handbook/policy or the school.
Special-education services and Child Find are not identical
Special Education
The district describes a full continuum of special-education services for eligible students ages 3–21.
Child Find
Child Find procedures apply from birth through age 21 to locate, identify and evaluate children who may have disabilities.
Child Find also applies to district residents attending private schools, highly mobile children and students suspected of a disability even when they are progressing from grade to grade.
Eligibility requires more than a disability label. The district explains that eligible students must meet applicable federal/state disability criteria and demonstrate a need for specially designed instruction.

The district parent-resource hub currently provides the Anti-Harassment Policy, harassment forms in English and Spanish, Parent/Student/Community Complaint Procedures and Seclusion & Restraint Policy.
Protect student privacy: keep names, medical information, disciplinary records, disability documents and screenshots inside the appropriate school/district reporting process instead of publishing them openly.
Virtual school and dual-enrollment resources
2026–27 Virtual Schools
The current parent-resource page lists a 2026–27 Chilton County Virtual Schools Handbook and says the 26–27 Virtual Schools Application is open.
Dual Enrollment
Eligible high-school students can pursue college or dual-credit coursework under current district agreements and should work through the school counselor.
Use the current virtual-school handbook. Older district instructional pages can still expose 2025–26 virtual-school information.
Do not convert the 2025–26 testing calendar into 2026–27 dates
The current Student Assessment page explains the district’s major assessment programs, but the visible calendar link still says Testing Calendar 25-26.
