What happens if Columbia County delays or closes school?
Assume school is open
Unless the district announces otherwise, schools remain open.
Full-day cancellation
When possible, full-day closure announcements are made by 6:00 a.m.
Delayed opening
A weather delay uses a two-hour delayed-opening structure.
New student or returning student?
New to CCSD
Confirm the zoned school, gather all documents and complete online new-student registration.
Returning student
Use Infinite Campus Parent Portal and select More → Online Registration for the annual update.
School is already in session. If a required returning-student update remains incomplete, contact the student’s school promptly rather than treating it as a future deadline.
Age requirements
Kindergarten
Student must be five years old on or before September 1.
First grade
Student must be six years old on or before September 1.
New K–12 registration checklist
Examples of standard residency evidence
Georgia ID / voter card
Valid Georgia driver’s license or voter-registration card.
Housing document
Property-tax receipt, mortgage note, lease or rental agreement.
Utility
Power or gas bill. Water bills are not accepted.
Prepare files first: CCSD registration is online and recommends saving required documents to your device as PDF or JPEG files before starting.
No computer? Contact the child’s zoned school and arrange a time to register at the school.
Confirm the zoned school before enrolling
CCSD uses the district’s Find My Bus Stop / zoning system to help families identify the appropriate school based on the residence.
Moving into new construction? Third-party real-estate websites can display stale school assignments. For zoning questions, including new construction, contact the district at 706-541-0650.
Open the official registration page and use its current “Find Your Bus Stop” link so you reach the district’s active zoning vendor.
Open CCSD new-student zoning and registration →Missed the 2026 Pre-K lottery? A waitlist route remains
Age
Child must be four on or before September 1, 2026.
Lottery drawing
The 2026 drawing took place March 30.
Late registration
Applications received after the drawing go to the bottom of the waiting list in order received.
Zoned program
The child must live in the zone of a CCSD elementary school offering Pre-K.
2026–27 CCSD Pre-K host schools
Pre-K residency is different from ordinary K–12 registration
Important: a Georgia driver’s license can be acceptable under standard CCSD K–12 residency rules, but Bright from the Start does not accept it as one of the preferred Pre-K lottery residency proofs.
For the Pre-K process, families are instructed to bring two preferred records such as a current property-tax receipt, power/gas bill, mortgage note or lease/rental agreement.
Living with another person? The property holder must accompany the family to the school, provide the required residency documentation and complete the Affidavit of Residency, which is notarized by school personnel.
Parent Portal: grades, attendance, registration and report cards
CCSD says all parents should have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. One account can contain multiple enrolled students.
Grades
Monitor academic progress.
Attendance
Review student attendance information.
Registration
Complete returning-student online registration.
Report cards
Open Documents to view current and previous report cards for the school year.
Multiple students
Switch students from the drop-down after logging in.
Password reset
Use the district’s Student Information System email.
Protect sensitive setup information: Parent Portal activation can require student name, grade, student number, birth date and part of the student’s Social Security information. Enter those details only through the district’s official setup process.
ParentSquare is replacing Remind
CCSD schools are transitioning family communication from Remind to ParentSquare. ParentSquare connects using the parent/guardian email listed in Infinite Campus.
Verify your Infinite Campus email
The email on file should be current before trying to connect ParentSquare.
Use the registration invitation
If the school/district sent a ParentSquare registration link, use that link.
No invitation?
You can sign up using the same email listed in Infinite Campus so the account can connect to the student.
Transportation connection: schools are also directing guardians listed in Infinite Campus to ParentSquare for student-specific 2026–27 bus notifications and updates.
Bus stop lookup, live tracking and bus alerts
Find My Bus Stop
Use the district-linked route system for school, route, bus-stop and scheduled pickup/drop-off information.
Edulog Parent Portal Lite
Shows GPS-based school-bus location information and configurable alert zones.
ParentSquare
Current school notices also direct eligible parent/guardian contacts to ParentSquare for child-specific bus updates.
Edulog setup
Be at the stop early even with GPS. District bus rules say students should be at the stop about five minutes before the bus arrives. GPS, traffic or communications delays can make the app appear behind the actual route.
Current Columbia County school meal prices
Student breakfast
$2.00
Student lunch
$3.75
Extra milk
$0.50
Adult meals
Breakfast $3.00; lunch $5.00.
Free and reduced meal application
What happens after repeated unexcused absences?
| Trigger | District response |
|---|---|
| By Sep. 1 or within 30 days of enrollment | Student/parent attendance acknowledgement must be on file. |
| 3 unexcused absences | Parent/guardian notification and an intervention plan through the MTSS process. |
| 5 unexcused absences | Written notification that the student is in jeopardy of becoming truant. For students age 14+, driver permit/license implications are also addressed. |
| 8 unexcused absences | School administration meets with the parent/guardian and school social worker to decide whether to begin compiling an official juvenile truancy complaint. |
| 10 unexcused absences | The school submits an official truancy complaint to the Department of Juvenile Justice under the district process. |
Do not wait for the tenth absence to ask for help. Medical, transportation, disability, housing or family circumstances may need documentation or support before attendance problems escalate.
Families in Transition (F.I.T.) / McKinney-Vento support
CCSD’s 2026–27 Code of Conduct identifies its Families in Transition program as the district’s McKinney-Vento support route for students and families who qualify as homeless.
Enrollment barriers
Housing instability should not automatically end a child’s access to public education.
School liaison
School-based homeless liaisons help identify and support qualifying students.
District liaison
The district homeless liaison coordinates the F.I.T. program and staff training.
Cannot meet the normal residency checklist? If this is because the family lacks fixed, regular and adequate housing, ask the school about F.I.T./McKinney-Vento rather than abandoning registration.
How to ask for special-education evaluation help
CCSD Child Find covers eligible children and students ages 3 through 21 who may need special education or related services.
Start with the zoned school
Contact the principal or counselor for a school-age student’s learning, development or disability concern.
Ask about referral/evaluation
Each school is supported by a Special Education Compliance Specialist.
Escalate if needed
Use district Special Education Services if the school cannot resolve the process question.
September 8 Child Find event: the current district page lists a September 8, 2026 meeting from 9:00–10:00 a.m. and names the Instructional Support Complex at 4395 River Watch Parkway, but the same page also says the location is to be announced. Verify directly before traveling.
504 accommodations use the school’s RTI/SST process
Section 504 is a civil-rights protection and is different from IDEA special-education eligibility.
Report threats, weapons or dangerous activity
Students can report concerns directly to an administrator, teacher, School Resource Officer or other trusted school official. CCSD’s current Code of Conduct also identifies LightSpeed STOPit for anonymous reporting.
STOPit app
Use access code Columbia.
STOPit web
A web-based anonymous-reporting route is available.
STOPit phone
District tip line
Immediate danger: anonymous tip systems, email and future Board meetings are not substitutes for emergency response when there is an immediate threat.
Transition help for military students
Columbia County serves a large military-connected community and provides a dedicated Military Families resource page linking families with school-liaison, relocation, deployment and Interstate Compact resources.
Baker Place Elementary
Recognized as a 2026 Georgia Military Flagship School.
Evans Middle
2026 Military Flagship School.
Grovetown Middle
2026 Military Flagship School.
Harlem High
2026 Military Flagship School.
What parents can review or request
Current-student records are different from official transcript orders
Current student
Start with the student’s school to inspect or resolve an issue involving current education records.
Transcript / formal record order
CCSD links its official student-record ordering service to ScribOrder.
FERPA: parents and eligible students have rights to inspect education records, seek amendment of inaccurate or misleading information and control disclosure of personally identifiable information except where an applicable FERPA exception permits disclosure.
Directory information: the district’s 2026–27 notice lists categories that may be released unless a parent objects in writing. Read the current Code of Conduct/FERPA notice if you want to restrict that disclosure.
Never send private records here. BoardofEducations.org does not need a student’s Social Security Card, transcript, IEP, disability records, medical records or portal credentials.
FY2026–27 final budget and financial reporting
The district’s Business and Finance area currently publishes the FY2026–27 Final Budget, annual audit reports, SPLOST financial reporting, financial-efficiency information and the current millage-rate notice.
Use the final budget document for exact dollar figures. Do not label a proposed budget, public-hearing slide or an older fiscal-year number as the final FY2026–27 budget.
