Pennsauken Schools: Calendar, Board Meetings & Parent Help
The Pennsauken Board of Education search usually leads to several different tasks: checking the 2026–27 school calendar, finding the next Board meeting, looking up current members, registering a student, solving a bus issue or reaching the right school.
Pennsauken Public Schools operates from Hylton Road and serves students from early childhood through high school, including a K–8 STEM school and an alternative grades 6–12 program. This guide separates Board business from the everyday family routes handled by schools and district departments.
Pennsauken Board of Education at a glance
Pennsauken Public Schools lists its administration and Board address at 1695 Hylton Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08110. The main district phone is 856-662-8505, and current district pages identify Dr. James Bevere as Superintendent.
Local distinction: Pennsauken Board of Education is the public-school governing body for Pennsauken Public Schools. It is separate from Pennsauken Township municipal government and from nearby Camden, Cherry Hill and Merchantville school systems.
Pennsauken school calendar: important dates for families
Pennsauken’s district calendar page currently links the 2026–2027 Pennsauken Public Schools Calendar and labels it as updated September 25, 2026. Superintendent Dr. James Bevere separately confirmed that staff returned August 24 and students began classes Wednesday, August 26.
The direct calendar-file endpoint was not retrievable during this research session. The remaining dates below were therefore cross-checked against a current reproduction of the district calendar. Before booking travel or childcare, use the official Pennsauken calendar link as the final source.

Why you should recheck the PDF: Pennsauken updated its 2026–27 calendar on September 25. When a district revises a calendar after school starts, an older screenshot or downloaded copy can be wrong even if it originally came from the district.
Pennsauken Board of Education meetings
Pennsauken distinguishes Business Meetings from executive sessions and special meetings. Business meetings are open to the public and include public-comment portions. Executive sessions are used for confidential legal, personnel, student and contract matters and are not open to the public.
The October schedule deserves special attention. District legal notices show an October business-meeting rescheduling notice, while the current meeting page and live calendar now list October 27 at 5:30 p.m..
Business Meeting • 5:30 p.m.
Current listed October meeting. Location: Board of Education Office.
Business Meeting • 5:30 p.m.
Listed on the current 2026 meeting calendar at the BOE Office.
Business Meeting • 5:30 p.m.
Final regular business meeting currently listed for 2026.
2027 Special / Reorganization Meeting • 5:30 p.m.
The 2027 meeting schedule begins with the annual reorganization meeting.
Business Meeting
This is where the Board acts on the majority of matters under its jurisdiction. The public may attend and public comment is included.
Executive Session
Confidential matters can be discussed in executive session. These sessions are not open to the public, although information may later become public when confidentiality is no longer required.
Before bringing a concern to the Board: Pennsauken’s own meeting page asks residents to first try resolving a matter directly with school administrators. For an individual classroom, schedule or student issue, the school is usually the faster first route.
How to confirm what the Pennsauken Board actually did
The district maintains separate agenda, addendum and minutes archives by school year. That distinction matters when you are checking a personnel item, contract, policy change, purchase or another Board action.
Confirm the final meeting date
Use Meeting Information and Legal Notices together when a date has been cancelled or rescheduled.
Read the agenda
The agenda shows what is expected to come before the Board.
Check an addendum
Pennsauken frequently posts addenda separately. An agenda without its addendum may not show every item considered.
Use minutes for the later record
A posted agenda item does not by itself prove that the Board approved it. Minutes are the better source for the recorded action.
Pennsauken Board of Education members
The district currently lists a nine-member Board. Officer titles and terms can change after elections or annual reorganization, so use the live Board page whenever a formal title matters.
Pennsauken schools by grade level
Pennsauken’s school structure has a few details that can be easy to miss. Several neighborhood elementary schools serve the primary grades, students then move into Intermediate and Middle School pathways, and Roosevelt operates as a separate K–8 STEM option.
Clifford A. Baldwin Early Childhood Learning Center
District early-childhood center. The 2026–27 Pre-K registration period is now closed.
G. Harry Carson Elementary School
Primary elementary campus serving Pennsauken families.

Roosevelt STEM School

Howard M. Phifer Middle School

Pennsauken High School
District comprehensive high school with athletics, career and technical education, academic and extracurricular programs.
A. E. Burling Alternative School
Alternative secondary program with a different school-day schedule from the main middle and high schools.
One useful Pennsauken detail: the Board has approved student uniforms districtwide. Uniform options vary by level—elementary, Park Avenue Campus, Pennsauken High and Burling—so check the current school-specific policy before buying clothing.
Selected Pennsauken school start and dismissal times
School-day times are not the same across Pennsauken. This matters for transportation, appointments, early-dismissal planning and families with children on different campuses.
| School | Start | Regular dismissal | Early dismissal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pennsauken High School | 7:10 a.m. homeroom | 1:50 p.m. | 11:34 a.m. |
| Phifer Middle School | 7:40 a.m. homeroom | 2:26 p.m. | 12:12 p.m. |
| Pennsauken Intermediate | 8:05 a.m. homeroom | 3:05 p.m. | 12:43 p.m. |
| Baldwin Early Childhood | 9:05 a.m. arrival | 3:10 p.m. | 1:15 p.m. |
| Burling Alternative | 8:00 a.m. | 12:30 p.m. | 12:30 p.m. |
Burling exception: the district says Burling’s arrival and dismissal times remain the same during a delayed opening or early-dismissal schedule.
How to register a student in Pennsauken Public Schools
New students must begin with the district’s online pre-enrollment process. Re-enrollments and address changes are handled by the Registration/Residency Office by appointment only.
Only a parent or legal guardian may register a student. Pennsauken warns that missing documents can require a new appointment, so it is worth checking the packet before you go.
Complete online pre-enrollment
Use the registration route reached from pennsauken.net and schedule the required appointment.
Bring the original birth certificate
The district specifies the child’s original birth certificate with a raised seal.
Prepare health records
Bring current immunization records. A physical examination is also required for students.
Bring previous-school records
The district lists the transfer card, most recent report card or progress report and test scores.
Add custody or special-education paperwork when applicable
Bring custody papers when applicable and the most recent IEP when a child is classified by the Child Study Team.
Complete residency affidavits
Parents must show valid identification and the required residency documents. Forms A, A-1 and C must be notarized when they apply to the family’s living arrangement.
Property owners
The district lists documents such as a tax bill, property deed, mortgage or settlement papers. Certificates of Occupancy are not accepted as the qualifying ownership proof.
Renters or shared housing
Pennsauken uses detailed notarized affidavits when a family rents or lives with another owner/renter. A lease by itself is not treated as one of the two required address proofs under the district’s stated process.
2026–27 Pre-K: registration is currently closed. For that school year, children who were 3 or 4 years old on or before October 1, 2026 were eligible for the full-day Pre-K program during the district’s registration period.
Private-document reminder: birth certificates, residency affidavits, custody papers, health records and IEPs should only be submitted through Pennsauken’s official Registration/Residency process.

Who qualifies for a Pennsauken school bus?
Pennsauken’s transportation policy is more specific than simply “students outside walking distance.” The district publishes grade-level mileage rules and additional transportation rules for disability, hazardous routes and other situations.
Grades K–8
The Board currently provides transportation for qualifying K–8 public-school students who live more than one mile from the school they attend, subject to district and state rules.
Grades 9–12
The district’s current Transportation page states that all students in grades 9–12 will be transported.
Other qualifying situations
The district also describes transportation for temporary disability, eligible disabled students and designated hazardous walking routes.
Bus-stop timing: Pennsauken recommends arriving at the assigned stop 5–10 minutes early. Students should ride only the bus assigned to them and should not ask a driver to make an unofficial stop.
Lost item or service problem: the district directs parents to the Transportation Office at 856-662-8502. A driver is not the person to negotiate a different pickup location with.
Agendas, public records and student records use different routes
If the document is already an agenda or Board minute, check the district archive before filing a public-record request. Pennsauken also provides an online OPRA form when a government record is not already available.
Agendas & minutes
Use the Board archive for current and historical meeting records, including addenda.
OPRA public records
The district’s online form sends requests to the Custodian of Records and provides a route to the official New Jersey Government Records Council form.
Student records
Transcripts, IEPs, health records, discipline records and other private education files should use the authorized school or student-services route rather than OPRA.
OPRA detail: the district notes that pre-payment of applicable fees may be required and asks requesters to describe the records as specifically as possible.
Pennsauken school jobs and substitute teaching
Pennsauken Human Resources operates from the Central Administration Building at 1695 Hylton Road. The office currently lists weekday appointment-only hours and directs applicants to its online employment system.
District employment
External applicants should use the current online application system. Teaching and school-administrator positions require the appropriate New Jersey certification.
Substitute positions
Pennsauken partners with ESS for substitute teachers. The district says substitute certification requires 60 college credits, cleared criminal-history background and a notarized Oath of Allegiance.
Application safety: verify that a vacancy is still active through Pennsauken’s current Employment route before uploading identification or employment records to a third-party job listing.
Special education, Section 504 and multilingual families
Pennsauken provides Child Study Team and Section 504 resources through Student Support Services. The district states that students may qualify for special education when a qualifying disability adversely affects educational performance and the student needs special education and related services.
Special Education / Section 504
For a concern about accommodations or disability-related support, start with the child’s school and building coordinator rather than discussing private details during public Board comment.
Multilingual family support
The district publishes multilingual-learning resources and also describes evening and weekend adult ELL classes for Pennsauken parents, guardians and employees.
Protect student privacy: disability evaluations, IEPs, Section 504 plans, diagnoses and health records should stay in the appropriate private school/district process.
Pennsauken Board of Education address and map
Appointment caution: Human Resources and Registration/Residency publish appointment-based procedures. Calling before a document-heavy visit can prevent an unnecessary return trip.
Common Pennsauken school search mistakes
“I still see an October 13 Board meeting.”
The district posted a rescheduling notice. The current meeting page and live calendar now list October 27 at 5:30 p.m.
“My school-calendar screenshot looks different.”
The district identifies the 2026–27 calendar as updated September 25, 2026. Reopen the official version.
“I submitted online registration, so I’m finished.”
New enrollment includes an appointment and required documents. Re-enrollment and address changes are also appointment-based.
“The lease proves residency by itself.”
Pennsauken’s residency process requires the applicable affidavits and qualifying proofs. The district specifically says a lease is not used as one of the two address proofs in some renter/shared-housing situations.
“Can my child use a different bus stop today?”
The district says students should ride their assigned bus and families should not ask drivers for unofficial stops.
“I need a student record, so I’ll file OPRA.”
OPRA is for public government records. Private education records belong in the authorized student-record process.
