Cabell County Superintendent Keith Thomas
Keith Thomas became Cabell County Schools Superintendent effective July 1, 2026, succeeding retiring Superintendent Timothy Hardesty. Thomas was sworn in during the July 6 Board meeting.
Do not rely on the district staff search alone: as checked August 15, 2026, it still labels Timothy Hardesty as Superintendent. That listing has not caught up with the summer leadership transition.

Culloden Elementary official-page anomaly: Cabell’s current School Schedules page displays 7:45 PM as Culloden Elementary’s start and 2:30 p.m. dismissal. Because that appears inconsistent with the rest of the elementary schedule, verify the actual morning arrival/start time directly with Culloden rather than silently changing the district’s published value.
How to enroll a student in Cabell County Schools
Important: Cabell County Schools says it does not save information entered into its online enrollment form. If you close or refresh the page before printing/saving the generated form, the information is lost and may need to be entered again.

Start with the school team
Teacher, case manager and administrator can explain the student’s current services.
Name the problem precisely
Evaluation, records, IEP implementation, autism services and Section 504 questions have different contacts.
Escalate to the appropriate district specialist
This is usually more useful than emailing every Board member about a confidential student issue.
Confidentiality: never place an IEP, evaluation, disability diagnosis or psychological report into public Board comments or an unofficial web form.
Title IX and nondiscrimination: verify the coordinator before filing
Cabell’s current public information is not fully synchronized. Different official pages currently show different coordinator names and telephone details, while BoardDocs Policy 2266 still contains former Superintendent Timothy Hardesty in a Title IX coordinator role.
Do not send a sensitive complaint to a stale person’s email merely because an old Board policy still displays it. Verify the current coordinator first.
